A practical preparation guide, not an individual assessment or treatment recommendation. Ask your clinician about your own circumstances.
Begin with the styles
Hearing aids come in designs worn behind the ear and designs worn within the ear. Some have a small case behind the ear connected to a receiver or earpiece. Others sit partly or fully within the ear canal. Ask your clinician to show you these differences with actual examples.
Your clinician can explain which styles are appropriate after assessment. Device size is only one part of that discussion.
Try the everyday tasks
Ask to see how a device is inserted, removed and charged or opened for a battery change. Think about using it with your glasses, mask or headwear. Ask how you will clean it and which parts need routine replacement.
Compare the exact model’s controls, phone connectivity and accessories. Features can differ even within the same product family, so do not assume that a smaller device includes every feature shown in a brand advertisement.
Ask about ordering and fitting
Before ordering, ask whether impressions are needed, when fitting can take place and what adjustments are included. Request the written trial and return terms for the specific device, especially for custom orders.
